Detailing Wash Mitt - Polymer - BMW (83-19-5-A19-D87)

The BMW Detailing Wash Mitt — Polymer (Part No. 83195A19D87) is BMW's OEM polymer clay wash mitt — a professional-grade decontamination tool that clays your entire BMW's paintwork in a fraction of the time of a traditional clay bar, with superior longevity and a safer contact surface for the paint. Rated for medium to heavy paint contamination, it's particularly well-suited to light-colored BMW paint finishes where brake dust fallout and iron particle contamination are most visible.

Clay Mitt vs. Clay Bar — Why the Mitt Wins

Traditional clay bars decontaminate paint effectively but have significant disadvantages: they drop-contaminate on contact with the ground (requiring disposal), they require considerable hand pressure and time, and their small working surface means claying a whole car takes hours. BMW's polymer clay mitt fits over your hand like a wash mitt, covering vastly more surface area per pass. The polymer clay surface lifts bonded contamination — ferrous fallout, rail dust, industrial fallout, bug residue, and water spot mineral deposits — while the mitt format allows you to work quickly across panels. The high-quality polymer material outlasts traditional clay bars by 5–6 applications, making it significantly more cost-effective per use.

Key Benefits

  • Medium grade polymer clay — suitable for medium to heavy paint contamination
  • Mitt format clays an entire BMW 4–6x faster than a traditional clay bar
  • Lasts 5–6 full car clay treatments — far longer than clay bars
  • Safe drop recovery — unlike clay bars, a dropped mitt can be rinsed and reused
  • Best for light BMW paint colors (Alpine White, Mineral White, Brooklyn Grey) where contamination shows most
  • Use with BMW Detailing Spray for proper lubrication during claying
  • Sold individually — also included in the SV Motori Clean, Clay & Detail Kit

How to Use

  1. Wash the vehicle thoroughly with BMW Car Wash Shampoo and rinse completely.
  2. Work one panel at a time — spray BMW Detailing Spray generously as a lubricant.
  3. Glide the clay mitt across the panel using light, overlapping straight-line passes.
  4. Rinse the mitt frequently to remove lifted contamination from the polymer surface.
  5. Wipe down the panel with a clean microfiber after each section.
  6. After claying, apply BMW Hard Wax or sealant to the now-clean paint surface.
